Senior Designer
The Rithm Project is building the multigenerational leadership force needed to reclaim and evolve human connection in the age of AI. Amid rising youth isolation and technologies with the power to unite or separate us, we connect people and ideas that move us toward a more relational and humane future.
We do this through two intertwined strategies:
The Creative Studio — designing tools, experiences, and content that spark a broad movement of young people becoming savvy consumers of AI and advocates for connection.
The Changemaker Network — uniting cross-sector, multigenerational leaders to redesign the spaces and systems where young people grow up so that connection thrives and AI is integrated in healthy ways.
The Opportunity
As our Senior Designer, you’ll be at the intersection of imagination and implementation —helping turn big ideas into tangible products, experiences, and responsive support that empower our network to act.
Your role spans both our major engines of work:
Changemaker Network design strategy — facilitating breakthrough collaboration among network members and bringing design thinking to their bold ideas for strengthening connection and conscious AI use.
Creative Studio creation and craft — shaping beautiful, resonant content and experiences (from zines and card games to immersive facilitations) that bring Rithm’s insights to life.
Org-level integration and learning — connecting what we learn from our network to what we create in the studio, evolving our strategy, and expanding our partnerships with other creative leaders.
What You’ll Do
Design for the Changemaker Network (≈ 40%)
Offer trusted design consultation to network members developing new ideas, helping them sharpen vision, prototype effectively, and align to what builds real human connection.
Create catalytic spaces — virtual or in-person — where peers make creative breakthroughs (e.g., design sprints, Action Accelerators, peer consultancies).
Design for the Creative Studio (≈ 40%)
Conceptualize and design engaging products and experiences that provoke reflection about AI and connection (e.g., zines, decks, role-plays, digital experiences).
Develop facilitator guides and toolkits that make Rithm’s methods accessible to educators, community leaders, and organizations.
Represent The Rithm Project at conferences or events to deliver designed experiences directly.
Organization-wide Learning & Partnerships (≈ 20%)
Synthesize insights across the Network and Studio into compelling stories, frameworks, and visuals.
Collaborate with leadership on evolving strategy and communicating it to key audiences.
Cultivate partnerships with creative and design peers to broaden reach and amplify impact.
This role is for you if you…
Are fired up about the mission. You see design as a tool for belonging, awareness, and systems change — and want to model the type of deep human connection through everything you do.
Bridge generations and sectors. You’re energized by the magic that happens when high schoolers, elders, technologists, and healers share the same table — and you know how to translate across them.
Dream and build through design. You bring participatory design experience and move fluidly between concept and creation.
Communicate and facilitate beautifully. Craft clear, compelling narratives and visuals that help diverse audiences understand, feel, and act on ideas.
Care deeply about craft. You sweat the details, believe in the power of beauty and clarity, and move quickly without losing either.
Are flexible and adaptive. You thrive in emergent, collaborative work and are energized by building what doesn’t yet exist.
Your Experience
We’re seeking someone whose professional journey includes many (but not necessarily all) of these experiences:
Human-centered design. 5–8 years in experience, product, or communication design — ideally blending social impact, creativity, and learning.
Facilitation & co-creation. Designed or led sessions that help people generate, test, or refine new ideas.
Content & artifact creation. Built tangible tools—print, digital, or physical—that make complex ideas accessible.
Visual design fluency. Strong grasp of layout, typography, and hierarchy; fluent in Figma, Adobe CC, or Canva.
Storytelling & communication. Translate insights into visuals and narratives that spark reflection and action.
Cross-sector collaboration. Comfort navigating education, philanthropy, technology, and creative fields.
Creative leadership. Guide teams or partners through design—from insight to implementation.
