Asma M

Asma is 22, based in New York, and holds a BS in Computer Science and Information Security from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She works in threat intelligence, studying human connection through its failure modes: deception, manipulation, the quiet ways people get taken apart online. She grew up in a Muslim Arab household where family duty outranked everything else, including her own ambition, and she describes choosing an education and a future with her own name on it as a slow, deliberate process built stage by stage rather than a single break.

One of her closest friendships is with a soldier stationed in Israel, a relationship that forced her to hold two truths at once about a place and its people. As a Sunni girl on the student advisory board of a global research program, she built enough trust in a room that a Shia participant chose to stay and talk with her rather than expect hostility. She's blunt by her own admission and wants a fellowship where directness functions as a tool, not a liability.
